a little salute.
Halfway across the world, it's time to give some serious props to my friend A. We've known each other for years but "inertia is inertia" - as another friend of mine would put it - and the little trickle of communication that remains is an occasional email or phone call, which may be returned weeks or months later. I've always been terrible at the science of "staying in touch" and some of my old friendships remain tight only because of the steady persistence of those who have mastered this black art. I'd like to think A. and I share the same disease, if only to excuse myself of having such poor form.
In any case, I think she is an extremely talented person. Yeah, she can be saucy and stylie and all those cute little hipster terms, but it's really beyond that. It's really pretty simple: this girl is a really gifted writer. The way she paces her words and strings together references makes one feel very ordinary. And the best part is, it all seems so effortless.
But enough hype, check it for yourself:

Is her life really that exciting? Quite possibly. But there's a few very good books' worth of material in that diary of hers.
